A partnership between Community CPS Australia (CCPS) and RDNS will help strengthen the importance of health and wellness in the community.

The two community–based organisations have been working together over the last few years, with Community CPS staff volunteering during some of RDNS’s fundraising activities and also initiating their own fundraising efforts ’in-branch’ to provide important medical equipment for clients at the end of their life.

This has led to a more strategic approach to the relationship that has developed, where Community CPS has generously provided a Community Foundation Grant of $25,000 to fund the provision of a co-branded RDNS vehicle.  This vehicle will allow health care staff to deliver services to clients ‘in-home’ and will initially be based in the northern suburbs.

Community CPS Chief Executive Officer Robert Keogh said the credit union was committed to improving the local communities within which its staff and members live and work.

“RDNS SA and Community CPS share a common passion for people. We both strive to make a difference in people’s lives and to help people to enjoy a better quality of life.”

“The Community CPS, and our staff, value our community partnership with RDNS which allows us to assist the organisation, not only though financial grants, but also through volunteering and fundraising activities,” said Mr Keogh.

“This vehicle is a symbol of the future of health-care,” commented Chief Operating Officer, RDNS SA, Angela Littleford.  “Not only does it reflect the in-home community health care, but also the value of community partnerships.  These are two of the most important schools-of-thought that will play a major role in Australia being able to meet the healthcare needs of a changing society.”

RDNS visits around 1700 clients a day and up to 30,000 clients a year, travelling on average 30,000kms per month.  The cars on the road are a symbol of its services in the community and are a key element in the provision of quality health care in the client’s home.

The partnership will also allow for the development of key programs that will benefit both organisations.  For example, as a Registered Training Organisation, the RDNS Education Centre will work with Community CPS to build a financial literacy program to benefit its Diploma of Nursing students.  The program will be rolled out in 2012 and will provide a value-added benefit for students as part of their course offerings.
