We offer a specialised continence service. This service provides advanced specialist advice, education, assessment and management in the treatment of incontinence.
The service promotes continence, client health outcomes and quality of life through an assessment, management and treatment plan tailored to each individual client and their circumstances. Each plan is based on best practice evidenced through research and education as overseen by the International Continence Society.
Incontinence is a symptom and unrelated to age, however it is linked to the ageing process and as other medical conditions arise the incontinence may indicate an additional unwanted problem.

Education on continence promotion is available to any organisation – these sessions will be tailored to meet the needs of the organisation and can be booked in advance via the Education centre.

We offers a specialist diabetes service aimed at assisting people with diabetes to take an active and informed part in the management of their diabetes.
The diabetes team consists of clinical practice consultants, clinical nurses and podiatrist, who
work in partnership with General Practitioners, endocrinologists and general medical specialists, hospitals and community based services in the provision of evidenced based diabetes care for children & adolescents , their families and adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
We provide services based on the Diabetes Self Care – 7 Steps to Success program, for people who are newly diagnosed or who are experiencing challenges with any aspect of their diabetes management.
The program includes the following services:
Specific post acute paediatric services are provided to children, their families, schools and child care services
Community Programs and Services
Education services
Education relating to any aspects on diabetes management is available to organiszations/agencies. These sessions are able to be negotiated and tailor made to meet the needs of the organisation.

Our Disability Services include:
Clinical services
Due to the nature of client clinical need in the Disability Service the following specialist knowledge exists in the area.
Gastrostomy and stoma care Information on nutrition via gastrostomy including various methods to suit the individual, devices and maintenance of the stoma site. The Disability CPC's can provide routine replacement of (balloon retention) gastrostomy devices in the community as part of a hospital avoidance strategy. RDNS cannot supply devices.
Tracheostomy and stoma care Information on tracheostomy tubes and consumables, and care of the stoma site. As CPC's are employed in the role of delegating care to care workers in this area they can advise on tracheostomy care, management of secretions and how to plan for emergencies.
Continence care Information on general continence care and long term continence strategies. For a full continence assessment the Disability CPC would refer you to the RDNS Continence CPC's

HIV is now considered to be a chronic health problem. The past 15 years have seen significant changes in the development of treatment and care enabling people living with HIV (PLHIV) to plan for a long term future.
The HIV Primary Care Coordination Program (HIV PCCP )
is a new program which commenced clinical services in April 2010.The Clinical Practice Consultant is working with 3 groups of people:

people who are newly diagnosed

people with complex needs
-
people who are new to treatment and care in SA
This is a short term assessment and referral service working with clients and primary care providers to facilitate clients to optimize self management of their health.
Shared Care for People Living with HIV
Background – evidence suggests that shared care between GPs and Infectious Diseases Specialists/GPs (s100 Prescribers) improves client outcomes.

RDNS HIV Specialist Nursing Service
At RDNS we have a specialist nursing service that works closely with other organizations and individuals within the HIV sector to facilitate comprehensive and coordinated care. We have 1HIV Clinical Practice Consultant and 3 HIV Clinical Nurses. The Clinical Nurses provide direct nursing services to clients in their own homes with the aim of promoting independence and self care.
We also provide nursing assessment and management for PLHIV who are admitted to Cheltenham Place. Cheltenham Place is managed by Centacare and is a community HIV respite service.
The underlying principles off the RDNS HIV service is underpinned by our principles of: confidentiality, acceptance, care, trust, empathy, respect, empowerment and partnership. Applying these principles facilitates positive interactions with PLHIV and works towards breaking down the effects of stigma, fear, discrimination, prejudice, blaming, homophobia and indifference.

Palliative Care
We offer specialist palliative care services to community based clients across the Adelaide metropolitan region, consisting of two Clinical Practice Consultants and a team of clinical, registered and enrolled nurses who provide high quality care and assessment for people at 'end of life'.

Approximately 50 percent of persons referred to RDNS adn YourLife require wound management. The most common types of wounds managed by our nurses are acute wounds, leg ulcers and pressure ulcers. However, our nurses are skilled in managing many types of wounds. We utilise the latest techniques and products for treatment of wounds.
All general nurses in RDNS provide wound management and RDNS has a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) who specialises in wound management.
We:
RDNS prides itself on delivering a high standard of wound management using practices and treatments based on contemporary research.
Education
RDNS can provide wound management training to suit the individual requirements of other health providers and education providers. Contact the RDNS Education Centre for more information on 1300 364 264.
Clinical consultancy

RDNS provides services to people that are homeless through (2) Nursing Clinics situated at Byron Place (United Care Wesley Adelaide), the Hutt Street Centre (Daughters of Charity) and a weekly clinic at Catherine House.
No Pulgi is an outreach primary health care service partnership between Nunkuwarrin Yunti, the Aboriginal Sobriety Group and RDNS for people who are homeless in the Adelaide CBD. Aboriginal people represent around 25 percent of the clients of the program.
The aim of the program is to improve the health of the homeless population, particularly around chronic disease management and reducing the incidence of preventable disease and injury. Services are provided through the RDNS Homeless Nursing Clinics and also from Nunkuwarrin Yunti, the Aboriginal Sobriety Group and the Salvation Army Sobering Up Unit.
